Well, i took my break way too seriously. But welcome back to my humble blog post. As I’m writing this, i am recovering from sickness and my lungs are pretty much shot. But after my reflection last year, i have been adopting a few mindsets that make a world of difference in the way i navigate my life. Hopefully reading this inspires you to try something different and get you one step closer to reaching your goals. So lets get right into it!
1. BFFR (FRFR)

I don’t know if i want to include swear words in my blog, but in case i need to spell it out BFFR = Be(ing) F**king For Real. But what does that even mean? Typically, it is used as a slang to express disbelief or skepticism.
However, I mean that you should use BFFR to check where you are mentally. It means that at any given opportunity of doubt or being delusional, you are now going to give yourself a reality check and reflect. The difference between you and the person you want to be is when you put in the work, not just externally but into yourselves. It’s difficult to close the gap, but one way is adopting this mindset.
Listen, I have been delusional in certain aspects of my life. I have insanely good luck so sometimes, opportunities fall directly into my lap(I once had $1000 fly into my lap). This made me complacent and I squandered the chances bestowed upon me. It was only after reflecting did i realise my mistakes and made sure to work on changing my behaviour.
So, it is time you hold yourself accountable for all your actions and work on improving yourself. It’s going to be difficult, but the end result will be worth it! Here are some questions i think everyone could think about when BFFR or reflecting:
- What am i avoiding (situation, people, emotions) that is preventing me from reaching my goals in life?
- What do i need to let go in order for me to be at peace?
- Am i honest with myself and others around me?
- What do i really want/need to do?

While these are just general questions, feel free to ask more specific questions regarding your circumstances. One thing about BFFR is that it also applies to the people you surround yourself with. You must keep it real with them too, especially when pursuing new goals. This is great when saying no to obligations you don’t want to commit to.
Ultimately, adopting the BFFR mindset may be challenging, but the journey toward self-improvement and authenticity is worthwhile. I think it allows me to live more authentically and just be more honest with what i want and who i surround myself with.
2. Marathon Mindset >>> Hustle Mindset
I feel annoyed to even type this one. I’m not sure if I’m in the wrong environment but 3/5 people have this ridiculous hustle mindset. It’s all about making money or achieving status, anything that makes you look good and that you can post to “flex” on others.
I’m not critiquing the need for money and status though (that’s a blog post for another time). I’m more concerned by the way which we “hustle” to reach those goals. I used to be deeply into FIRE (Financially Independent, Retire Early) until i was burnt out and could not justify the hustle as i was neglecting important relationships and was not enjoying the process.
I stopped focusing on FIRE and figured out a way to enjoy what i decide to work on. Instead of treating life as a race, i realised it would be better to take my time to understand what i really want to do and take steps towards that instead of rushing through everything.

I started thinking about life as a marathon instead. Here are some key concepts that helped me:
1. Visualise Your Victory: This is SUPER important. The crystal girlies know what i am talking about. You can manifest your entire success if you simply visualize it and take the steps needed to reach your goals. In case you hate crystals, try a journal, vision board or even a goal tracker if that seems more practical for you.
2. Check Your Attitude: Before jumping into the river, think about how deep it is and how prepared you are. If you decide on a goal with the wrong motivation or mindset, it will hinder your objectives. It helps to research the topic/result or even have someone to guide you.
3. Take Action: Needless to say, doing says more than just talking. There’s no point in being a football expert if you don’t play the game. It helps to understand what you are capable of and work on what you think needs to be improved. It’s okay if you make mistakes as long as you pick yourself up and try again. Again, treat it like a marathon.
Key POint: enjoy the one life that you have for yourself
So when it comes to school, engage with people, find activities that inspire you and walk that path instead. Bask in the process of learning, making friends or doing something that you actually love. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t make sense or that it’s not a move for your career, as long as you feel like you it’s the right choice for you.
Trust me and my psychic third eye, take life as a marathon instead.
3. Failure Is The Mother Of All Success
This isn’t exactly a new mindset, but one that has become more relevant this year. It all started when my math teacher told me there was no way i would survive an advanced math class and I distinctly remember uttering this phrase, not only to tell him that i would do better but also to assure myself that failure is not the end of the road.

If we are talking about a movie that’s stuck in my head, this movie is my roman empire, simply because of how quotable some of the lines are (and of course Jennifer Coolidge being Jennifer Coolidge). The point is that we strive and work out for the results that we want. But sometimes we fail, and that’s alright. You can’t let the fear of failure stop you from achieving the life that you want. The minute you let fear operate your decisions, you are not living up to your full potential.
Personally, I will be applying this mentality to my (non-existent) love life. I used to be afraid of rejection and didn’t bother trying when in comes to dating as a result. I kind of wish i didn’t wait this long to go back to the dating world, but please manifest a healthy relationship for me!!
Concluding Thoughts
I hope that reading this motivates you to improve on some aspect on your life. I wrote this article for a specific someone in mind, and if you ever feel down in your life, you can always re-read this and find some inspiration. Do also let me know what mindsets you have adopted for this year!
Unfortunately, I am still sick and recovering but i hope to publish more soon! Do let me know if you have any ideas on what you would like my perspective on personally or in the comments.
Lots of love,
